The OSU Opera Workshop provides intensive training in the musical, linguistic, and theatrical aspects of opera production. Collaborating frequently with OSU University Theatre, the Opera Workshop presents both scenes programs and full productions. The performers are almost exclusively undergraduates and so receive opportunities that are often reserved for graduate students at other universities. The emphasis of the course is on the imaginative integration of music and staging. Recent productions have included The Pirates of Penzance, as well as scenes from The Ballad of Baby Doe, The Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro, Street Scene, Evgeny Onegin and La Cenerentola.
