Scholarship opportunities

The Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program has two yearly scholarships, The Judy Mann DiStefano Women’s History Scholarship and the Jeanne Dost, Margaret Lumpkin, and Jo Anne Trow Founders Scholarship. Selection criteria include academic excellence, commitment to feminist ideals, community activism, and financial need. Undergraduate students must be full time students, currently enrolled, working on a major, minor, or certificate in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and/or a minor in Queer Studies. Graduate students should be currently enrolled in the Ph.D. or MA program in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, have Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies as their primary and/or secondary area of study of the MAIS degree, or be working on a graduate minor in conjunction with a Masters or Ph.D. in another department.

Internship opportunities

Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies internships provide students with the opportunity for hands-on application of the research and theories they've studied in their classes. For a 3-credit internship, students volunteer 10 hours per week for a term in an organization whose work benefits women. Many of our students complete their internships in local, regional, or campus organizations. Other students complete their internships in feminist agencies around the country and the world. For many students, the internship is a path to a career. For others, it is an experience that helps them develop valuable skills that they are able to use in whatever work they choose.
