Our mission is to promote the diversity of world cultures and languages by providing innovative interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

World Languages and Cultures is committed to real-life applications of language acquisition and supports small classes with a focus on interactive learning.  Our courses are doorways to international study: OSU offers close to 300 different programs in more than 80 different countries. We  also have an innovative program for Spanish heritage speakers.  Contact the Heritage Program Director Loren Chavarría for more information.

In today’s world, knowing other languages is often a necessity for success. Developing language competence will strengthen the credentials of students planning careers in any of the following fields: international business, foreign affairs, non-government organizations, environmental science, public health, law enforcement, education, social services, among many others. The faculty is well qualified to help students achieve these goals.
