Whether you are one of our undergraduate majors looking for information on advising or a potential graduate student investigating the Master of Public Policy program, this site should offer answers to many of your questions.
Currently, the Sociology Program has 13 full-time faculty members, close to 312 undergraduate majors and minors, a rapidly growing cohort of on-line Sociology majors (E-campus) and more than 60 graduate students participating in the Master of Public Policy and the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies programs. We offer a wide variety of courses in the following broad areas of study: deviance and social control, environment and natural resources, international development, science and technology, rural and social policy.
In 2011, the Sociology Department formally joined with the Political Science and Economics Departments to form a new School of Public Policy. Our Master of Public Policy program is now in its 9th year, with recent graduates holding positions in public administration analysis, economic analysis, environmental consulting, and legislation director. The MPP prepares our students for careers in the public, non-profit, and international sectors. Beginning in 2012 we will begin to offer a Ph.D. in Public Policy, while continuing to offer BA and BS degrees in our respective disciplines.
