PDX - Downtown
From the Portland International Airport (PDX) to downtown Portland there are several options:
1. The TriMet light rail (trimet.org) between PDX and the downtown runs about every 15 minutes and costs $2.50. The trip takes about 30 minutes and the nearest stop is about a 10 minute walk to the Modera Hotel
2. The Blue Star shuttle bus (bluestarbus.com) runs every 30 minutes from PDX to most downtown hotels (including the Modera) and costs $14.00 one way.
3. Taxis cost about $40.00 one way.
Downtown – U of Oregon Portland (Whitestag Bldg.)
University of Oregon campus in Portland is good walk (15 - 20 minutes) from the PSU campus or the Modera Hotel. If you’re not a walker or it’s raining, the most convenient way to get to UO Portland is via the Trimet light rail system. You may take either the Red or Blue line from Pioneer Court House Square (a five minute walk from the Modera) to Skidmore Fountain station. From there it is a short walk to UO Portland/Whitestag Building, which is also near “Old Town,” Chinatown, Waterfront Park, and lots of eateries.
The weather in Portland/Oregon in February is always unpredictable. During Cine-Lit I we walked around in our shirtsleeves under bright sunshine. During Cine-Lit II we walked around in 3-4 inches of slush. Count on rain! At some of the theaters/screenings you will have to wait in line outside. So, bring an umbrella, a sturdy pair of shoes, and a warm coat or jacket (preferably water resistant or waterproof).
