Tristen Shay (they/them)
Hello, I'm Tristen Shay, Head Advisor for the College of Liberal Arts. I love being an advisor here, but even more I love assisting students in finding their educational and co-curricular passions. Feel free to ask me questions about Baccalaureate or Liberal Arts Core requirements, campus resources, or general questions. I have bachelor degrees in Art History and Gender Studies from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA and I hold my graduate degree in College Student Services Administration from OSU - Go Beavs!
In my free time I enjoy reading, playing video games, cheering on my beloved Seahawks and (semi-successfully) attempting to teach my cat to do tricks.
Marilyn Stewart (she/her)
Associate Head Advisor
Hello, I'm Marilyn Stewart. I am committed to assisting students in having a true liberal arts experience at Oregon State University. My intent is to make a difference in students' lives through considerate guidance and support. The core of my approach as an academic advisor is assisting students to make informed decisions in becoming even more academically successful as they move toward their goal of earning a College of Liberal Arts degree. Aside from enjoying my work of academic advising, I love spending time with my husband, two sons and nephew from Florida. I also enjoy traveling the nation and spending time with good friends.
Fabiola Sandoval Morado (she/her)
Hello, I’m Fabiola Sandoval Morado, Liberal Studies and Pre-Education Advisor in the College of Liberal Arts. Advising students is one of the best parts of my job at Oregon State University. Assisting students with navigating and accessing the wealth of OSU courses, resources and opportunities is so important for student success as well as individual growth and citizenship. I was born in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, and immigrated to the US as a toddler. The oldest of 4 children, I grew up in Gary, Indiana, without legal US documentation. Through the 1986 IRCA legislation by President Ronald Regan, I became a Legal Permanent Resident before my senior year of high school, which afforded me the opportunity to attend college and study abroad internationally. I am a first-generation college student, graduating from Kalamazoo College, in Kalamazoo Michigan, where I earned a BA in Psychology & Fine Arts. I relocated to Corvallis in August 1997 to complete a MAIS graduate program at Oregon State University in Women Studies and Art History.
When I am not advising students, I enjoy running, gardening, raising chickens, knitting and crocheting. I am also the proud parent of an OSU student (¡Go mi’ja!) and hope to become a beekeeper before my kiddo graduates from OSU.
Jennifer Edwards (she/her)
My name is Jen Edwards and I'm excited to be returning to academic advising for liberal arts students after being a career advisor for four years. I'm passionate about helping students learn the value of earning a liberal arts degree and being able to promote these skills to meet their academic, career and life goals. I love the quote from Thoreau, "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them." I have an undergraduate degree in theatre, a master's in theatre directing, and graduate certificates in education and academic advising. When not traveling with my husband, I love cuddling with my three rescue cats or going hiking with my rescue dog.

Cindy Wettengel (she/her)
Gillian Harper (she/her)
Graduate Teaching Assistant
I'm Gillian and I am a Graduate Assistant at CLA Student Services. I love helping students with administrative tasks like registration and building schedules and I'm always happy to talk about aspirations and passions! I am currently enrolled in the College Student Services Administration graduate program at OSU but this is my second time around--I received my BA in French from OSU in 2017. When I'm not geeking out about advising and student life I love reading, bingeing Netflix, and snuggling with my cat. I'd love to talk to you about how to successfully organize tasks and classes, potential extracurriculars, and how to take care of yourself mentally, emotionally, and physically while you're experiencing college.
Christine Hoang (they/them)
Ecampus Graduate Teaching Assistant
Hi, I'm Christine and I use they/them pronouns. My work with CLA Ecampus as the Graduate Assistant involves bridging access to resources and services so that they are accessible to our online student population. After my B.S. in Psychology and minor in Social Justice, I am currently pursuing an Ed.M. in College Student Services Administration. Continuing from my undergrad, I like being in community with queer trans students of color and engaging in arts-based practices to cultivate healing and growth spaces. I enjoy connecting with students about identity and interests, working with and supporting students on how they are caring for themselves and those beside them. What makes your heart move, what are your gifts, and where are you being called? Beyond student affairs and community organizing work, I create space for being with people I reciprocate care, playing video games, watching shows, reading webcomics, appreciating art, baking sweets, and reclaiming my imagination. I'm here for anything that you may need and want support in classes, community, identity, and experiential opportunities.
