Members of the Remote Teaching Peer Support team hail from across the CLA disciplines and teach a full range of online courses including intro-level surveys, WIC classes, graduate courses, and Honors colloquia. The team specializes in online course and assignment design and the effective use of online learning tools.
The team aims to:
  • Help faculty re-conceptualize their face-to-face classes to achieve learning outcomes in a remote, fully online, and hybrid environments.
  • Support course design and the creation of online activities and assignments.
  • Offer advice about the use of online learning tools for course instruction.
  • Connect teaching faculty with the appropriate university support for complex or technical questions.

Drop-in hours

Our team members offer drop-in hours from weeks 3-10 during spring quarter:

  • Benita Blessing: Drop-in hours: Mondays 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Come chat with Benita about inclusive teaching and safer learning spaces, and to learn tips and tricks for using technologies in asynchronous and synchronous teaching.
  • Liddy Detar: Drop-in Hour: Tuesdays from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Drop in to ask questions and/or share conversations about remote teaching needs, supporting struggling students, and staying nimble with the ever-shifting ground of asynchronous/synchronous and remote/hybrid/in-person modalities.
  • Katherine Hubler: Drop-in Hour: Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. - noon. Stop by with your remote teaching questions, or engage in conversations about connecting with your students in the remote environment.
  • Gilad Elbom: ( Send a message, long or short, with questions about class design, remote pedagogies or the current state and future of disembodied learning. Gilad is happy to meet on Zoom anytime, day or night.

Friday Remote Teaching Forums

Hosted on Fridays at 10am, weeks 2 through 9.  Faculty and GTAs are invited to join the remote teaching team for a series of one-hour workshops and conversations geared toward cultivating and sharing successful pedagogical strategies, fostering inclusive learning spaces and supporting students in remote and multi-modality environments.

CLA Remote Teaching Workshops

Even if you have already taught a remote course during a previous term, we highly recommend checking out the CLA Remote and Blended Course Design and Teaching Workshop that OSU’s Keep Teaching team hosted for our CLA faculty in August 2020.
