Black Lives Matter

FCSJ acknowledges that socially constructed differences, like race, combined with unequal distribution of power across economic, social, and political institutions, result in discrimination and death. Violence at the hands of police is one clear example of this. The disproportionate effects of COVID-19 on the people who harvest, process, and serve so much of this country’s food is another.

Students in the Food in Culture and Social Justice Program, thank you for your commitment to the work of understanding and redressing the anti-Black racism, colonialism, and other systems of oppression built into our food system and society and for continuing to do so under challenging circumstances.
