Where are you from?
I’m originally from Little Rock, Arkansas (woo, pig sooie!) I moved to Philomath, Oregon in July of this year.
What drew you to anthropology as your field of study?
Ever since the history classes I took in middle school, anthropology has been at the forefront of my mind. I have to give major credit to my history teacher who dealt with the constant questions I had about the different cultures around the world! There is so much that goes into anthropology, and since it is such a massive field, I love the abundance of information surrounding it as a whole. Seeing the various ways in which human culture and society has developed is fascinating to me, so anthropology seemed right up my alley.
What has been your experience as a student of both the College of Liberal Arts and the Honors College?
So far, both the Honors College and the College of Liberal Arts have been incredible. Whenever I contact the Honors College with questions or concerns, they always manage to go above and beyond with assisting me. The College of Liberal Arts is also very good when it comes to assisting and answering my questions! They were also very helpful when it came to advising me with my schedule, and made sure that I’m being as efficient as possible when it comes to my classes and major.
What are you hoping to do after you graduate?
After I graduate, I’m hoping to get into law school! Studying law has been a dream of mine since I was little, and anthropology is one of the majors that can be helpful going into the legal field. I know that my mind will possibly change as time goes on, but that’s my main goal as of right now.
How do you feel that your experience in CLA and HC is setting you up for success?
I feel that the opportunities that both colleges give for growth and gaining experience are incredibly helpful when it comes to setting me on the right path. There are also several resources available when it comes to career help and looking forward into the future that it makes success in general seem that much more attainable!
