2021-2022 choral & vocal auditions

We anticipate 2021-2022 choral & vocal auditions being held in-person.

The purpose of these auditions is for assigning you to a choir and/or a voice teacher. Please note: voice lessons are only offered to current music majors and music minors.  The auditions may also be used for those interested in entrance to the Bachelor of Music, with options in music education (voice as major instrument) and voice performance, pedagogy and repertoire.

An audition is required for Chamber Choir, Bella Voce, Meistersingers and the Opera Workshop. Read about our choral ensembles and decide whether a placement audition is appropriate for you.

Questions?

If you have any questions regarding the audition or audition registration process, please email oregonstatechoirs@gmail.com

Before your online audition
  • Sign up for a 30 minute time slot.
  • Fill out a brief registration questionnaire.
  • On the questionnaire, you may attach a Youtube link of you singing a song. This is not necessary for returning students or non-music majors or minors.
  • We will send out an email two days before your audition with your Zoom meeting information.
  • If you have questions, please email us at: oregonstatechoirs@gmail.com

At your audition

  • Be ready to present one prepared song.  An accompanist will be provided for you.  If you do not have another song, consider a folksong, such as “Amazing Grace”, “My Country tis of Thee”, or “America”.
  • Please arrive 5 - 10 minutes before your scheduled time.
  • The faculty will interview you to help figure out which voice teacher and choir are your best fit.
  • The audition will conclude with a brief sight reading exam. If you are used to sight singing using solfege or numbers, consider practicing with these systems before your audition.
  • Await email notification of choral groups and voice lesson placement.
