Title: ACEs and Rural Policymaking: An analysis of the intersections between trauma and equity

Abstract: Using a framework grounded in equity, intersectionality, and collaboration, the analysis provides an insight into operationalizing statewide trauma-informed policies in rural places by examining a large statewide policy and its operationalization in two rural areas.The analysis indicates that the failure of the policy to adequately address the social determinants of health and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in rural communities perpetuates inequity by inadequately recognizing the intersection of place, economics, and generational trauma in rural places.
