New Media Communication students working for Orange Media Network at Oregon State University have been nominated for national awards by the Associated Collegiate Press, College Media Association and College Broadcasters, Inc.
The awards include finalist placings for three Pacemaker awards and one for each of OMN's three magazines. Pacemakers, awarded by ACP, are considered the preeminent award of college journalism, and OMN has never been a finalist for more than two in a single year.
OMN's broadcasting stations, KBVR-FM and KBVR-TV, received particular notice this year, garnering nominations for video and audio advertisements for ACP and nominations for best four-year stations of the year from CMA, among others.
The annual contests recognize the best collegiate journalism in the United States. Final awards for ACP and CMA will be announced Oct. 28 at MediaFest 2022 in Washington, D.C. Six OMN students and two advisers plan to attend the conference. CBI's awards also will be announced that weekend in Baltimore.
