Assistant Professor of Psychology Ivan Carbajal, Post-baccalaureate Lab Manager Angelica DeFalco, and Assistant Professor of Psychology Daniel Bradford, from the School of Psychological Science, published an article in Clinical Psychological Science. It details how inherent technological limitations and biases in the design of psycho- physiological studies lead to the exclusion of Black and other minoritized participants, thus limiting how applicable results can be across communities and cultures. In the article, the authors illustrate the state of equity and representativeness in the research, propose potential improvements, and discuss ongoing work to address current limitations.
