An organization in Eugene has proposed to change the name of Lane County to Kalapuya County to honor a Native American tribe that lived in the area long before American settlers.
The President’s Commission on White House Fellows has announced the appointment of the 2022-2023 class of White House Fellows, which includes Elizabeth Ragan, a 2013 graduate of Oregon State University’s College of Public Health and Human Sciences.
"For me it's like returning some of the heritage back to the area," David Lewis, assistant professor in SLCS said.
Even as its counterparts in the Pacific Northwest allowed their students to achieve a degree in Indigenous studies, Oregon State University for years did not.
