German for Engineers

German for Engineers offers engineering students the opportunity to obtain German language skills to their curriculum either in preparation for the dual-degree ATLANTIS program, for the Baden-Württemberg exchange program, or to add an additional distinguishing qualification for the job market. Students who finish the program receive a German minor.

About

The unique one credit course “German for Engineers'' was specifically designed to prepare engineering students in the ATLANTIS program for their one-year study abroad program at the Universität des Saarlands. The course is now also open to engineering students interested in the Baden-Württemberg exchange program through IE3 Global. Students enroll each term and meet in small-group settings at times that fit their schedules.

  • No previous German experience needed for freshmen and sophomores
  • Flipped classroom model allows for intensive language practice 
  • Enrollment each term for 1 CR is required
  • Topics include specialized vocabulary and practical application of topics from physics, chemistry, math, material science, electrical engineering etc.
