Soundbox 4: A Zoom of One's Own

Soundbox4: A Zoom of One's Own, is a festival that centers on our common humanity and challenges creatives, thinkers, sound practitioners, visual artists, educators, students and technological transformers during the Zoom-economy amidst a year of global pandemic, tremendous suffering, unrest and racism.

This year, we come together to share our collective approaches, to press on and to centralize and move fluidly between OSU faculty, students, professional artists, sound makers, teachers, and community members throughout a creative, innovative and transformative lens. Normally, this festival (now in it's fourth year) is presented in the basement of the Fairbanks Hall on the OSU campus, but this year we are remote and will be hosting from Zoom and Youtube live.

Soundbox4 is a collaboration with the Truckenbrod Gallery and Site of Sound Series, featuring four independent artists including:

  • Mate Behboudi: a sound artist from Tehran, Iran
  • Todd Barton: emeritus composer and buchla synthesis of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival from Ashland, Oregon
  • Sean Griffin: Opera Provera director, composer and conductor from Los Angeles
  • Nikki Martin: Threshold Shift Radio producer and sound designer from Portland
