Executive Master of Public Policy

Executive Master of Public Policy

The Executive Master of Public Policy (EMPP) at Oregon State University is designed for mid-career professionals with 5+ years in the public and nonprofit sectors who are interested in moving up in their positions or who are looking to transition from the private sector to a career in public service. Students can move through the program at their own pace and all coursework is available online through OSU Ecampus. The EMPP is a 45-credit (quarter) program with interdisciplinary core coursework, seven policy concentrations to choose from, and a final Applied Policy Capstone Laboratory. For more information, please contact Hilary Boudet, Public Policy Graduate Program Director, or Wynton Davis, Public Policy Graduate Program Assistant.

Strengthen your foothold as a policy practitioner and gain the knowledge that will help you transition from the private sector to public service by earning your Executive Master of Public Policy (EMPP) degree online from Oregon State.

Tailored for mid-career professionals, this 45-credit program is shorter than the MPP offering because it takes into account your status as a practitioner with 5+ years in the public and nonprofit sectors.

EMPP curriculum

As a student in Oregon State's online Executive Master of Public Policy program, you will engage in online coursework that focuses on mid-career leadership in public and nonprofit sectors. The curriculum's interdisciplinary approach will increase your access to research and practices that are relevant to your field of study and career aspirations.

Degree requirements

The EMPP degree requires the completion of 45 credits in order to graduate. Degree requirements and curriculum information are available on Oregon State's academic catalog or the OSU's ECampus EMPP website.

Specialization and certificate options

You can select an area of focus from a variety of established concentrations, graduate certificates, or you can self-design a concentration with an advisor and approval of the public policy graduate program director. Certificate options range from 16 to 20 credits.

If you successfully complete both a certificate program and the EMPP, you will receive the certificate in addition to the EMPP degree.
