The Social Service and Advocacy Option is designed to provide Sociology students with the ability to apply social science concepts to addressing social problems and promoting social change through their occupations and community service. Required coursework and an internship enable students to gain mastery of material related to social justice, inequality, diversity, and inclusion, as well as insight into how groups and individuals bring about change. This option has relevance for sociology students aspiring to careers in publicly run or non-profit organizations that seek to influence public policy. The option will also prepare students for advanced/graduate programs in sociology, social work, social justice, law, or public policy.
