Kate Gallagher, MA, 500 e-RYT, has been dedicated to studying Tibetan Buddhism, meditation, and the teachings of mystics and poets of many kinds over the last 15+ years. Kate had the opportunity to complete a 12-month solitary shamatha (calm abiding) meditation retreat in 2018. Her offerings are drawn from that experience and the generosity of her teachers: Mira Shani, Jarret Levine, Will Duncan, Lama Drimed Norbu and others. Kate's style of leading contemplative practice is intended to be non-dogmatic, both gentle and challenging, and down-to-Earth.

OSU's Contemplative Studies Initiative is led by the Director, Dr. John Edwards, and the steering committee, composed of Dr. Michele Ribeiro, Dr. Vicki Tolar Burton, Dr. Stuart Sarbacker, Dr. Winston McCullough, Dr. Geoff Barstow, and Dr. Dee Denver. Members of the steering committee will be sharing practices and teachings from their contemplative and academic backgrounds throughout the weekend.
