The BFA Graphic Design program at Oregon State is a competitive, rigorous and professional design program. Students complete the 3-year program with coursework that emphasizes process, craft, and problem-solving. With coursework in traditional and emerging mediums, students take on assignments including typography, interactive design (UX-UI), brand, and collaborative projects. Additional electives include motion graphics, packaging, Flux (a student-driven design studio), and information design among others. Additionally, there are various design-focused internships and positions on campus and countless internship opportunities in Corvallis and Portland. Many students also participate in the AIGA's mentorship program which pairs graduating students with an industry professional for a 10-week program.
In their senior year, students take GD419 Portfolio Review, where they inventory, curate, and prepare their works for presentation. They build both print and online portfolios, as well as prepare materials that positions them to compete for jobs in graphic design. OSU graduates regularly find rewarding employment with Portland's leading firms, in-house agencies for brands such as Nike and Adidas, advertising and digital agencies.
