Dr. Dean has been an instructor on the inside in the Oregon State Penitentiary, and has taught in Education Studies at the University of Oregon. Dr. Dean has also been an instructor in SLCS, co-teaching undergraduate course in WGSS, and in WLC, and has co-taught in CSSA. Her teaching evaluations are always strong. Dr. Dean graduated from CSSA in 2012, and also brings a wealth of experience at the practitioner level to the program, having been both a K-12 classroom teacher in New York, and a Communications, Research, and Policy Manager in the Office of the Registrar at OSU. Dr. Dean was also the Head Advisor and Recruiter for the College of Education at OSU.
While Dr. Dean has only recently completed her PhD, her research agenda is robust, and she already has a peer-reviewed publication record. Dr, Dean has also published several book chapters. She has presented her work extensively at national-level conferences, both practitioner focused and research focused. Dr. Dean’s research interests include: community participatory action research, higher education in the correctional setting, student development theory, supporting LGBTQ college students, college student access, and culturally responsive higher education.
