2024 Incoming Cohort
Fall 2024 promises to be another banner year for our grad programs as we welcome a new cohort of MA & MFA students. Here’s a quick preview of their awesomeness from our program directors:
Ray Malewitz, Associate Professor of Literature and Interim MA Director:
“This year's incoming MA students are a truly talented and eclectic group. Their studies have taken them everywhere from the Sorbonne to local comic book shops and they have published work in genres ranging from higher ed journalism to poetry to traditional literary scholarship. They have translated TEDx videos into Japanese, read literature in Latin, investigated Buddhism, and helped marginalized students achieve their college dreams. We cannot wait to meet them this fall!”
Elena Passarello, Associate Professor of Creative Writing and MFA Director:
“The MFA program will welcome eleven writers this fall—writers from England; Alabama; Portland, Maine; and even Portland, Oregon! The new cohort includes an NCAA basketball star, a stand-up comic, a poet from the Best of Button video poetry project, and the co-creator of the TEDx Talk ‘Black Woman Rising: Leadership, Activism, and the Community Mother Archetype.’”
