Academic Advising for World Languages and Cultures (WLC)
Prospective e-campus students should contact Brandi Hoel, E-campus Success Counselor for information about our programs. Make an appointment with Brandi (scroll to the bottom and follow the red link). Brandi can help determine if the program is the right fit, give an estimate of the time it will take to complete the program, review transfer admissions requirements, general program requirements, and provide a free service of transcript evaluation.
To declare a minor or major in one of the WLC programs, visit the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) advising office in Gilkey 213. Also plan to meet with your WLC advisor to make sure you understand the requirements of the major or minor and discuss your academic, personal and career goals.
Currently admitted Oregon State students will work with the language advisor, Danielle Batson, to navigate university language requirements as well as language major and minor requirements. Language majors must meet with an advisor by the end of spring quarter in order to receive a registration PIN for the following academic year. We recommend meeting with your advisor regularly throughout your studies to ensure that you stay on track academically. In addition to language advising, students should meet with their College of Liberal Arts advisor for advising related to the Liberal Arts and Baccalaureate Core requirements.
To make an appointment with Danielle, please email her with your student ID number and your phone number: firstname.lastname@example.org
Placement tests for French, German, and Spanish are offered in the World Languages and Cultures office, 210 Kidder Hall, Monday through Friday 9-11 am and 1-4 pm. Contact the World Languages and Cultures office for information about placement tests for other languages offered at OSU (541-737-2146). Distance testing is also available for e-campus students.
