The course requirements for students pursuing a Theatre Arts option are designed with the intention of allowing students and their faculty advisers to devise a program most suited to the student's specific needs and objectives.

B.S. in Theatre Arts
Students students pursuing a B.S. in Theatre Arts choose between these 2 areas:
- Theatre History, Dramatic Literature, Theory and Criticism
- Design, Performance, and Technical Theatre
Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies
Students may choose the Oregon State University Theatre Arts area as one aspect of study within their program.

Cleavon Smith has always been a writer, even before he knew it. His reverence for the written word was something he carried with him since childhood, and something that guided him to Japan, San Francisco, and more recently, to Corvallis.

Award winning director of theatre, film, and television, Justin Martin reflects on his time as an international theatre arts student at the College of Liberal Arts
Come time to choose a major before enrolling in his first year at college, Justin Martin picked engineering, but he wouldn’t stay an engineer for very long. Martin switched soon after, enrolling in a theatre arts class at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst in New South Wales, Australia. It was his teacher J McCutchen, who had a connection with OSU’s theatre arts program, granting him the opportunity to study abroad at OSU in 2001.
