Dr. Adéla Hall came to OSU in 2015 with a Ph.D. in German Linguistics from the Charles University of Prague and more than 15 years of German instruction at universities in central Europe. Her academic focus is language variation and change in German. In her research she seeks to better understand the sociological factors affecting language contacts and language conflicts including language policy, and she investigates the forces that shape language use.

Dr. Hall teaches all levels of German at OSU. She designs and develops linguistics courses within the German and Linguistics programs, and she is one of the founding faculty members of the new Linguistics program at OSU.

Practicing and living in a trilingual environment at home is a permanent source of language contacts and conflicts on the micro level. In my free time I enjoy being active outdoors with my family. Nordic skiing and mountain biking are my favorite sports.
