I research and write about the history of Latino/as in the Rocky Mountain West after World War II. My specific interests are in the ways that Latino/as have interacted with perceptions of the American Dream, and the areas in which the dream has remained largely out of reach for Latino/as. Using oral histories, my work aims to better understand the lived experiences of Latino/as in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming as a way of crafting a larger picture of the important political, social, economic and cultural contributions that Latino/as have made and continue to make in the United States.
I have helped create new online classes as well as redesigned established online classes at OSU including the History of the Latino/as in the United States, the History of the American West, the History of Women in the United States Since 1890, and Immigration History Since 1890.
