Jill Pauls is principal flute of the Oregon Mozart Players, the Eugene Opera Orchestra, and the Corvallis-OSU Symphony. Pauls also plays flute and piccolo as a member the Eugene Symphony. She has made numerous appearances as a soloist with the Oregon Mozart Players and the Corvallis-OSU Symphony. Pauls is a member of several chamber ensembles, including the Arrieu Wind Quintet, which toured China in 2000. She earned a doctor of musical arts degree and a master of music degree from the University of Oregon, where she studied with Richard Trombley. She has studied with Trevor Wye in England and has performed ( in master classes) for Jean-Pierre Rampal, James Galway, Geoffery Gilbert, John Solum, Julius Baker, Samuel Baron, Robert Dick, Harvey Sollberger, and others. She also performed in the 1983 and 1984 master classes at the National Flute Association Conventions under Robert Willoughby and Walfrid Kujala. Formerly a University of Oregon instructor, she now teaches at Oregon State University and maintains a private studio in Corvallis. She enjoys spending time with her husband Rod, son Joshua, daughter Andrea, and their pets.
