Here at OSU, I teach film studies and composition courses part-time, primarily via eCampus. I grew up in the small town of Sandpoint, Idaho and have called the Pacific Northwest home my entire life. I earned a BS degree in Secondary Education from Idaho State University and taught high school English and Media Studies at South Albany High School from 2000-2005. I completed an MA in English with a focus on Film Studies at OSU in 2006. While working on my MA, I spent three years as Assistant Editor of Cinema Journal while Professor Jon Lewis was Editor. In 2011, I completed a PhD in English with a focus in Film History and Environmental Studies at the University of Oregon, where I teach full time for the Composition and Cinema Studies programs.
I have published several academic articles in the field of Environmental Media Studies and been co-editor on four major volumes - Ecocinema Theory and Practice, published by the American Film Institute and Routledge Press in 2012, Ecocinema Theory and Practice 2 (Routledge, 2022), Ecomedia: Key Issues published by Earthscan in 2016, and The Routledge Handbook of Ecomedia Studies (Routledge, 2023).
