Yanni Ma

Dr. Yanni Ma is an associate professor in the School of Communication at Oregon State University. Her research focuses on science, environmental, health, and risk communication. Specifically, she is interested in understanding the underlying mechanisms through which people process scientific messages and identifying the factors that contribute to their effectiveness or ineffectiveness. Recently, she has also been exploring how misinformation about science affects the public’s understanding of science and trust in science and scientists. She has published articles in journals such as Science Communication, Environmental Communication, Public Understanding of Science, and Mass Communication and Society. She has received grants as Co-PI from the Arthur W. Page Center and the NSF.
