Bonjour! I’ve been a French instructor on-line at OSU since 2018 and I started teaching French in 2008. I have lived in France a couple of times, including 2 years while teaching at the Université d’Avignon. As an instructor, I try to incorporate my previous experiences with language learning in French, Russian, and Spanish. I’m here to help students get a grasp on the fundamentals of French to build a solid base to continue learning French. Language learning is a process, and it’s my pleasure to be a part of that and to support you in the beginning of this adventure!

Hi, I’m a Professor of French and Francophone studies. I have been teaching here at OSU since Fall of 2003, transferring from Purdue University, where I was a Visiting Assistant Professor. I teach mostly upper-division courses in French and Francophone literatures, cultures and cinema. In addition to coordinating the French program, I also direct our Summer Study Abroad Program in Lyon.

Bonjour! I have been teaching French at OSU since 2008. I love supporting and encouraging students on their journey with French, and seeing how they apply their learning in their own lives. As an undergraduate at Oregon State, I majored in French and studied and interned abroad in France -- in Avignon, Poitiers and Lyon. After graduating, I first pursued a career in International Education as I hoped to help students gain life-changing experiences like the ones I had had, living in a different country. While on that path, I had the unique opportunity to return to Poitiers and work for three years as the interim coordinator for the Oregon-Poitiers exchange program. A number of years later, after completing a Master’s degree in Intercultural Relations, my journey came full circle, and I found my way back to my alma mater – OSU! I began teaching first-year French and found that my passion really lies in teaching. I wish you the best in your adventure at OSU and wonder where it will take you!

Salut! I have been teaching both face-to-face and online language, culture and literature courses in French at OSU since 2018. As a learner of languages myself, I can relate to the vulnerability one feels when learning and communicating in a non-primary language; therefore, I strive to structure a learning environment that is positive, inclusive, flexible, where all are invited to participate in knowledge sharing. Since communication is at the heart of learning a language, both on-line and face-to-face courses include interactive and collaborative activities. I look forward to being a part of your learning journey!

Bonjour ! I was born and raised in France and moved to Oregon in 2012. An English teacher back home, I started teaching French at OSU in 2015. I teach both online and on the Corvallis campus. What I love most about my work as a language instructor is to see the smiles on my students’ faces when they realize they can communicate in French. From greeting someone on your very first day of class, all the way to chatting with fluent French speakers from around the world in our upper-division courses, your language journey is only starting at OSU and will take you to places you would never have anticipated. I hope that I will have the opportunity to accompany you in the first steps that you will be taking toward your exploration of the French language and Francophone cultures! À bientôt, j’espère !

Bonjour! I was born and raised in a small seaside town in Japan called Murakami. At the University of Oregon, I double-majored in French and Italian and continued to pursue studies in both languages until earning an MA in Romance languages. During this time, I also studied Italian in Italy, including two months of language study in Perugia in the region of Umbria and one academic year in Pavia in Lombardy. I also visited several cities in France during school breaks. My interest in Romance languages, particularly French and Italian, began much earlier in Japan, where I received my first undergraduate degree in vocal performance with a focus on Italian opera and art songs. I taught Italian for 9 years and Japanese for 4 years at the University of Oregon, and I have been teaching at OSU since 2014. I primarily teach first and second-year Italian and first-year French. Like you, I studied French and Italian as a student, and I love sharing my language learning experiences with my students. Most students taking the courses I teach are there to learn a new language, and I strive to create a safe and fun learning environment in which students can enjoy learning without worrying about making mistakes.
