Pre-Law Advising Services

CLA students will have the opportunity to meet with the pre-law advisor to discuss exploring law and/or law schools, the process of applying to law schools, and resources available to pre-law students.

Pre-law advising is not offered via drop-in advising. Students must schedule an appointment. Please see below for the types of pre-law advising appointments available to students.

  • Location types: Both in-person and Zoom are available. In-person appointments will be at the Corvallis campus.
  • Pre-law advising appointment: Students can select this if they have any general questions regarding exploring law, the application process, LSAT, etc.
  • Pre-law Application Document Review: Students who are applying and have a completed draft of their document can use this service. Students will need to send their documents in advance for review and the appointment will focus on feedback. Please double check you received the confirmation email as it will contain specific instructions and deadlines to submitting your documents for review.

The following is not covered through pre-law advising and you are encouraged to connect with Career Services.

  • Resume review
  • Mock interviews
  • Pursuing another career interest outside of law

Common FAQs

The university does not have any of those three options, but in a pre-law advising appointment we can discuss how you can incorporate your law interests into your studies.

Law schools do not require students to be a specific major to apply. I encourage you to select a major you will excel in.

Law schools do not have prerequisite course you need to take.

Some law schools have additional application requirements, but the schools will always ask for a personal statement, all college level transcripts, 1-2 letters of recommendation, resume, and your LSAT score.
