The Latinx/a/o Studies Minor at Oregon State University is an interdisciplinary minor highlighting the varied experiences of Latinx/a/os in the United States. The long history of Latinx/a/os in the Américas entail the history of Spanish colonization, U.S. imperialism, and subsequent geo-political jostling over nation-state borders. From that history as a base, contemporary issues such as citizenship, immigration, border militarization, language, identity, globalization, transnationalism, power and civil rights movements, immigrant rights movement, and undocuqueer movements are explored through interdisciplinary inquiry, all rooted in Latinx/a/o communities.
