Anthropology
Anthropology
Anthropologists at OSU strive to understand the human past and present, and to help shape the future. Combining cutting-edge scholarship with community engagement and application, our faculty and students study diverse topics such as cultural heritage, food systems and the environment, social justice, language, and human health. We offer the following degree programs: BA/BS, MA/MS, and PhD.
Ethnic Studies
Ethnic Studies
In Ethnic Studies, we prepare students for a diverse world - whether that means learning about one's own background and the histories that shape our families, reaching out to learn more about other peoples and histories, or how these are all intertwined. Students in Ethnic Studies gain greater understanding of difficult subjects like race and racism, colonialism and indigeneity, ethnicity and citizenship.
World Languages and Cultures
World Languages and Cultures
World Languages and Cultures (WLC) strives to contribute to a world in which the learning and use of multiple languages are valued and in which people approach linguistic and cultural differences with curiosity, critical thinking, and empathy regardless of identities, social status, or national origin. We offer majors and minors in French, German and Spanish on campus and online, and an on-campus minor in Asian Languages and Cultures.
Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies
Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies
The Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Program at Oregon State University relies on multi-disciplinary approaches to the study of gender and sexuality as they intersect with race, ethnicity, class, culture, religion, nation, and ability. We are committed to challenging all forms of oppression, and center queer, transnational, and women of color feminisms. Undergraduate degrees: BA in WGSS, Minor in WGSS , Minor in Queer Studies (QS) (Corvallis & Ecampus). Graduate Degrees: MA, PhD, and Minors in WGSS; MAIS; Graduate Minors in QS (Corvallis).
