About Anthropology

OSU Anthropology prepares undergraduate and graduate students to apply cutting edge theory, methods, and skills to (1) understand how human societies past and present solve problems, and (2) succeed in a variety of careers, within and beyond academia.

We maintain signature strengths in community health, cultural resource management, archaeology, science and technology studies, food studies, and environmental studies. These focus areas are connected by a commitment to Indigenous studies, social justice, and collaboration.

We champion academic freedom, diversity, and equity, encouraging students to build synergies across sciences, engineering, arts, and humanities. Students in our program develop critical thinking, communication skills, and facility with interdisciplinary collaboration. Overall, we help students succeed in an increasingly interconnected and complex world.
